Vada Pav

Vada pav is a most popular street food in Mumbai, city of Maharastra, state of India. Now it is popular in all over India. Vada pav is an Indian burger. Vada refers batata vada which is made from potato and pav refers to bun. It is very easy to make.

Ingredients:

                Pav – 6 pieces
                For vada:
                                Potato – 3-4 boiled and mashed
                                Oil – 1 tbs
                                Mustard seeds – ½ ts
                                Turmeric powder – ¼ ts
                                Red chilli powder – ½ ts
                                Salt – to taste
                                Lemon juice – 1 ts
                                Coriander -1 tbs chopped
                For batter:
                                Gram flour – 2 cup
                                Red chilli powder – ½ ts
                                Turmeric powder – ¼ ts
                                Salt – to taste
                                Water – as required
                                Oil – 1 ts hot
                For garlic chutney:
                                Garlic – 10-15 cloves
                                Red chilli powder – 1 ½ tbs
                                Water - 1 tbs
                Oil – for frying
                Green chilli – for garnishing
                Round sliced onion - for garnishing

Method:

1.       Grind garlic cloves and red chilli powder.
2.       Add water and again grind for a minute.

For batter:
1.       In bowl add gram flour, add water and make a thick batter.
2.       Add turmeric powder, add red chilli powder, salt and mix well.
3.       Add hot oil when ready to fry vada.

For vada:
1.       Heat oil in pan.
2.       Add mustard seeds, when it crackles add potato.
3.       Add potato, red chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt, lemon juice, coriander leaves.
4.       Mix well and cook for a minute.
5.       Make pav size balls from this mixture.
6.       Deep in above gram flour marination and deep fry in oil till golden color.

For assembling:
                                Take a pav,cut in middle, spread garlic chutney in bottom slice, place 1 round sliced onion, place a vada and press up and down side of pav.

Serving Tip:

                 Serve with green chillies and round sliced onion and garlic chutney.
